about

This is my favorite song in the album. It’s inspired by Gilbert O’Sullivan’s “Clair”. It’s similar to “Clair” in the way that it’s about a May-December affair and that there’s a clarinet whistling the melody in the background. The chord progressions here are quite complex, which is a mannerism of the 70s sound. I love how short, simple and sweet the song ended up to be.

lyrics

JOAN

Joan
Where did the magic go?
It is so tragic when I know
You're barely legal, Joan
It felt so evil, Joan

Joan
I'm lost and lonely, Joan
I hope I won't end up alone
My one and only Joan
I hope I won't end up alone
Joan

Joan
Don't feel so frantic, Joan
It felt romantic all night long
You're really special, Joan
Just don't go mental, Joan

Joan
I'm lost and lonely, Joan
I hope I won't end up alone
My one and only Joan
I hope I won't end up alone
Joan
