In my twenties, I wasted a lot of hours in bars when I played in some bands. I was mostly out of the house, and hating it. I had to smoke cigarettes so I could endure the pain of socializing with annoying people. I should’ve enjoyed my own company instead, in the comforts of my room.

Nowadays? I spend most of my waking hours in wife-beaters and shorts, barefoot in my own bedroom.

I hate putting pants on. I hate going out. What can I say? Happiness is staying in your room all day, right?

When I turned thirty, I celebrated my birthday by going to Seattle by my lonesome. I visited a Nirvana exhibit. When I saw Kurt Cobain’s cardigan (the one he wore in the MTV Unplugged show), the image egged me to write a grunge song done with acoustic instruments.
